Well, nt and I took about 8 hours to get the engine/tranny out. I put in probably 20 hours doing the work (more slowly than if I had done it before) and then another 8 hours or so getting it back together in the car.
Only special tools would be the Torx socket you need for the head bolts. That said, a good torque wrench, a soft faced hammer and my Metwrench set are very handy. Having an engine stand and hoist was very nice as well.
A word about Metwrench sockets and wrenches - outstanding tools. They grab the flats of the fastener instead of the corners. Worth every penny! I have NEVER stripped a multi-sided fastener since I got them. And the sockets are strong enough to use with my air wrench.
