Hello all,
Well, 3 weeks later, and I have a much nicer car.
Replaced:
Head gasket
Exhaust gasket
front and rear oil seals
oil pump o-ring
water pump
newer auto tranny (eBay item off a 91T in Omaha - factory re-man)
tranny mount
Injector o-rings
Distributor o-ring
timing chain and guides
tie rod boots (much easier with no engine in the way)
Voltage regulator (funny story - the 92T died on the highway while I was in the middle of all this. It was the VR. Conveniently, I had an 80A alternator sitting on my garage floor instead of under a really sludged out engine...)
It's not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot better. The tranny shifts early, but it's also overfilled and I haven't had a chance to drain it. That said, governor seals would still make it a good deal (I bought it for $400). Also, I can't get the bottom water pump hose to completely seal for some reason.
Special thanks to 'nt moore' for the use of his hoist and stand and his help getting the monster out and back in.
Feelin' like I could probably do anything on a 9k right now...
