...as this problem may never be solved, and you may have to live with it!
Or... you may fix it, who knows? ;) but it's a good thing it's only an irritation, and not a big costly problem...
I too had the dreaded "err" message show up on me... after convering my 90 9kt from an automatic to a manual.
After almost 2 years of dealing with it, i finally dove headfirst into some research, and found that it is causes by any number of things in the system... anything that feeds the insturment cluster.
My guess to the most likely cause of this is the fuel pump you installed was not originally made for your model or year. and the fuel level sender on the pump is not sending the correct voltage to your cluter.
or pehaps if am mistaken, and the fuel pump doesn't have a built in sender, then you disturbed the actual fuel pump sender and this is why you have the ERR message.
Some people have found the problem to be the TEMP probe sensor under the front bumper... and as for me, the problem was since i no longer had an automatic transmision, the automatic EDU display i had was getting confised at the signal being sent to it from the connectors at where the auto gear selector used to be.
I had to swap the EDU itself out with one from a manual car to get the message to go away, which involed a complete insturment cluster removal... and overhaul...
...but hey, if it annoys you as much as it annoyed ME, then you should have it fixed in no time! ;)
check your work on the fuel stuff again, and make sure your fuel gauge is even working!
