Salutations:
Well, I'm not planning to re-wire the car. However, I sort of have to go over it as I'm pretty sure now several odd-ball problems are related to how the loom has been handled in the past.
So - being that I'm opening, cleaning and checking connectors anyway and have found a couple of surprisingly under-engineered factory ones attached to various important sensors - I am sort of hoping to avoid the Christmas rush on what is an 11 year old in a fairly high atmospheric salt environment (Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada).
I'm not talking about remaking the main ECU connectors or anything, more like moving the relay panel to a more accessible spot (say under the kick panel) or epoxy casting sealable loom females for the Safety Valves and Temp/Knock Sensors (et al).
I'm not so much thinking about re-engineering the car so much as hardening the technology that's in it to a higher standard as I come across it.
I have access to a fairly good supply of marine specification gear locally, but was wondering if anyone had undertaken the effort or has some leads of their own.
I intend to keep her for some years to come.
