The lower driver's seat cushion in my '94 CS is somewhat compressed, previous owner was a bit of a heavyweight! My seat heater has been repaired and is fully functioning (used it this morning, brrrr). If you are in the Chicago area, this would be feasible, if not, ?
I suppose that your method would work, but note that you will probably have unsightly loose fabric or leather sitting on the bottom cushion. The lower cushion cover is held in place by steel rods that slip through channels sewn into the material and then hook into the frame - it is not tacked or stapled to a wooden frame like it is on most chairs.
