UPDATE Good news.... Posted by JeffR [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Chip replacement, worst case scenario? NO start, Gene N ![]() ![]() |
Got the car running again! I put the stock chips back in, (notches lined up), and what I did different this time was put the Jetronics back in it's place completely. The suggestion John gave about a ground issue was something I thought about, too. The 1990 does NOT have a black ground wire attached (I noticed a 1991 I looked at yesterday DID), so I am guessing it will ground itself when put back in the holder. Also, I disconnected the negative battery cable inbetween removal and installation.
So- I put the upgraded chips in, and bodda-bing-bodda-bang! Took her for a whirl on the freeway- she gets up and goes! With my automatic tranny, I can chirp it pretty good off the line.
Thanks for the input guys. I hope my trial and error helps omeone else. I would like to know if disonnecting the neg battery cable was the key, or if the ground issue was the problem.
