Hi,

Thought I would relate an experience with my 1997 9000 Aero. Last week my air conditioning was acting up. It would start out OK, blowing cold but after about 15 minutes it would just blow warm air. I made an appointment with an A/C shop to have it checked out the following week. I then headed off on a road trip (Vancouver to Kelowna, BC) about 450 Kms. Just towards the end of the journey the car started to sputter ever so slightly at high speeds. Didn't think too much of it, thought bad gasoline maybe? The next few days driving shorts trips it got progressively worse, sputtering at low speeds and then idle, check engine light flickering on and off. Finally it got really bad and the check engine light stayed on constantly. As there were no Saab dealers within 450Kms, I searched out a Saturn dealer and hoped they had some Saab experience. Luckily they still had a Saab tech even though they quit selling new Saabs 3 years ago. He diagnosed it to be the DI Cassette. Of course, the part had to be trucked all the way from Vancouver overnight. Luckily it came in the next morning for my return trip home. Now the A/C magically works fine again.
Cost of part $730 + $102 tax + $832 Cdn. Labour $82 Cdn. Had I purchased the cassette from one of the site spons0rs and kept it in my trunk, about $415 Cdn and 5 minutes to replace.

Needless to say, I will be ordering one to keep in my trunk...just like so many of you members have advised people to do!
