If you insist on buying the car. so be it. Before you try to convert, and I agree with Jim that success is unlikely, you should bring the car to Saab and have them scan the TCS and ABS computers.

Does the car stay in limp home mode (LHM) after a re-start? If so, you don't have an intermittent problem, which is good for troubleshooting.

My TCS story (and we all have them!) I have a 93 CSE. Awhile ago the TCS/CTRL (red) light came on, car entered limp home mode, which is very annoying. I replaced the safety switch (valve on firewall, connected to TB via a vacuum hose. I replaced all of the vacumm hoses since these were all in bad shape. The car then went in to LHM about once per week, but would come out of LHM with a engine restart.

I eventually took it to Saab. They told me the TCS ECU complained about a lot of stuff, as did the ABS ECU. The tech cleared all of the codes, ran the car, and re-scanned. The ABS complaint was a fault at the inlet valve, but this did not re-appear after the reset. I was told that the TCS becomes hyper anxious when there is also an ABS fault, but with the ABS cleared, the TCS ECU is relatively more tolerant of off-nominal system status reports from its 10,000,000 sensors.

Its been about 2 months now and I have not seen the TCS/CTRL problem again. While fixing other stuff, I noticed a front brake caliber was leaking brake fluid. I fixed that. And about 1 year ago I discovered I had a bad wheel speed sensor which activated ABS when it wasn't needed (no complaints from the ABS or TCS ECUs though). I have no way of knowing, but perhaps either the wheel speed sensor or the leaking caliber convinced the ABS computer there is a problem at the inlet valve (whatever that is)??

so, try to fix the problem(s) with the TCS/ABS. Don't try to convert is my advise.
