Testing and Inspection
HARSH ENGAGEMENT IN DRIVE, 1, 2 & REVERSE
1. High idle speed.
2. Improperly adjusted downshift cable.
3. Incorrect line pressure or pressure rise.
DRIVE IN 1 BUT NOT IN DRIVE OR 2
1. Improperly adjusted manual linkage.
2. Incorrect fluid level.
3. Improperly adjusted downshift cable.
4. Dirty valve body passages.
5. Worn front clutch and seals.
6. Worn forward sun gear sealing rings.
7. Leaking or missing driven shaft cup plug.
8. Worn or damaged front pump and drive tangs.
9. Leaking pump inlet pipe.
10. Defective one-way clutch.
NO DRIVE IN DRIVE, 2, 1 & REVERSE
1. Improperly adjusted manual linkage.
2. Incorrect fluid level.
3. Incorrect downshift cable adjustment.
4. Dirty valve body passages.
5. Worn front clutch and seals.
6. Worn forward sun gear sealing rings.
7. Leaking or missing driven shaft cup plug.
8. Worn or damaged front pump and drive tangs.
9. Defective one-way clutch.
10. Leak at pump inlet pipe.
DELAYED OR NO 1-2 SHIFT
1. Incorrect downshift cable adjustment.
2. Dirty governor passages.
3. Dirty valve body passages.
4. Incorrect front band adjustment.
5. Leaking front servo seals or tubes.
SLIPS ON 1-2 SHIFT
1. Improper fluid level.
2. Incorrect downshift cable adjustment.
3. Incorrect front band adjustment.
4. Leaking front servo seals or tubes.
5. Worn front band.
6. Dirty valve body or sticking valves.
DELAYED OR NO 2-3 SHIFT
1. Incorrect downshift cable adjustment.

6. Leaking or damaged rear clutch valve, seals or tubes.
SLIPS ON 2-3 SHIFT

HARSH GEAR SHIFTS

SLIP, BREAKAWAY NOISE OR SHUDDER ON FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION IN DRIVE OR 2
1. Incorrect manual linkage adjustment.
2. Improper fluid level.
3. Incorrect downshift cable adjustment.
4. Dirty valve body passages.
5. Worn front clutch and seals.
6. Worn forward sun gear sealing rings.
7. Leaking or missing driven shaft cup plug.
LOSS OF PERFORMANCE & OVERHEATING IN DRIVE
1. Defective torque converter.
TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS TOO EASILY
1. Incorrect downshift cable adjustment.
TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT
1. Incorrect downshift cable adjustment.
2. Dirty valve body passages.
3. Dirty governor valve passages.
NO 3-2 DOWNSHIFT
1. Incorrect manual linkage adjustment.
2. Incorrect front band adjustment.
3. Leaking front servo seals or tubes.
4. Worn front band.
5. Leaking or damaged rear clutch valve, seals or tubes.
NO 2-1 DOWNSHIFT
1. Improperly adjuster manual linkage.

4. Incorrect fluid pressures.

7. Worn rear band.
