a few times, I think I have all timing mark on the 2.3L engine in my head. At No. 1 piston TDC,

1) both cam shaft has a mark at the first cam shaft hold down. It matches up with the index on each hold down,
2) each cam sprocket has a mark at 12 o'clock. The mark is on the passenger side.
3) the Woodruff key on the crank shaft, and the slot (naturally) is at 12 o'clock.
4) there is a timing mark on the flywheel, also at 12 o'clock. You will miss that easily if you don't look closely.

keep in mind the timing mark on the flywheel may be off by a few degrees. This is because the timing sprocket on the crank has 19 teeth, each timing sprocket on the camshaft has 38 teeth, and the flywheel has 135 teeth. The balance shaft sprocket on the crank also has 38 teeth but that is irrelevant here. When you have the timing chain lined up, it is quite likely the TDC mark on the flywheel will not be at 12 o'clock sharp. One tooth on the timing sprocket spans more than 7 on the flywheel (135/19).
