Well a few days ago I was trying to back up in reverse and as i was rolling backward the car jerked to a stop like I had just hit a wall. I tried pulling forward and then shifting into reverse again and after backing up 3 feet the car would jerk to a stop again. After the third time the car finally back up in reverse like normal.
Then yesterday when I was almost home from work the car started making a loud growling noise. It made the noise regardless of which gear I was in or regardless of what speed I was going. The noise did stop when I put in the clutch though.
After I got home a friend was helping me figure out what was wrong. We were backing the car up and then driving it forward and listening to the noise. Then the car just stopped moving. Even in neutral with the clutch in, the car will not roll. It does rock a little bit and make a clicking noise. With the engine running I can depress the clutch and select any gear but when I let off the clutch the engine pulls but the tires wont turn. I can't let out on the clutch all the way or the car will stall. The engine doesn’t seem to turn the tranny at all.
Any ideas? Tranny or CV joint maybe? how do I tell?
Thanks,
Micah
