The other problems you had seem to indicate its more that just a bad light sensor. Sounds like there was a short or something like it. AS for those who have a dim info screen.....There is a light sensitive resirtor mounted in the clock unit ( little clear plastic hole) Mine on the 93 has been dim for years and I am getting ready to sell it so thought I'd fix it. Its quite easy if your handy with a low wattage solding iron. Remove and unplug the unit. Remobe the 2 metal clips top and bottom the using a couple of screw drivers carefully spread the plastic tabs and split the case. It should be obvious what it is being right under the plastic tube allowing ambient light to it. Go to Nagaski Hardware..er Radio Shack. they sell a package of several photoresistors for around $2.50. While your there if u don't already have one, get a desoldering bulb to suck the solder out of the area your are working on. Now which one of the several do you use? I just picked the next to smallest one as it was similar in size and soldered it in. Everyone should know how to solder. My son when he was 5 or so was watching me do some soldering and couldn't waite to tell his friends that "My Dad can melt metal. Now that he is 19 my Tig welding setup he could care less about...who would of guessed ?
The replacement worked great..well sorta I now discovered I've had a Ck Eng light on for God knows how long. That got fixed today.. AMM replacement. Good luck
