I've done some searching and can't really find what I'm looking for, so figured I'd just ask.
I'm tossing around the idea of putting a turbo on my 92 9000S. I don't want crazy boost and 250 hp, I'd just like a little more pull up the hills and a bit more rip on the highway. As it is it runs very well, but like I say, I would love the little extra zip.
The dilemna is... what would be any precautions or drawbacks? Would I be ok with the 10.0-10.5ish compression? Would I have to start running 93 octane? I'd do an intercooler and such, but what would I want to manage booost, an MBC or just use a wastegate or what? Also, my all original (as far as I know) 2.3L has 251K on it, half of which I've done since I've owned it and done NO engine repairs at all aside from a VC gasket, it's just a smooth running and maintenance free 2.3L. I change the oil (syntec blend 20w/50, I know scary huh, every 3000 miles and the car just runs and runs). So I don't want to throw a turbo on here at 6-8 lbs of boost and just blow everything up.
So any help or advice would be appreciated. As I said, this is just an idea I'm tossing around, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
