Help with battery drain diagnosis....

Hello all. My 93 Aero has a battery drain. If the car sits without starting for about 3 days or more, then the battery dies. Battery is about 3 years old if I recall. I did a search on the board and read the posts about hooking up an amp meter to the battery, but I think I am doing it wrong.
I set my multimeter to amps, then connect one lead to the negative post, and the other to the negative cable, then carefully remove the cable from the post, with the car off and the key off. I get a reading of 000. What am I doing wrong here? Shouldn't I get at least a slight reading from the radio memory and other small stuff?
The EDU volt meter reads 13 or so when the car is running, although I don't know how much I trust that thing. I was going to start pulling relays behind the glove box with the amp meter hooked up, but if I am getting 0, then I don't think I have it hooked up correctly.
Can someone straighten me out on this? TIA,
Chris
