It's not a 9000 thing. The alternator should be rigid. It is held in place by a bolt at the top and bottom. It is possible that one of those bolts is out. But even then, the alternator is usually in pretty good. I suspect that one of the mounting ears on the alternator may have broken.
Does the alternator body move, or just the pulley? I can't come up with a good way for just the pulley to move, but I have to ask.
As to the back up lights. I assume you've checked fuses and bulbs. If you have an automatic tranny, there is a switch in the shifter console and a relay. It could be either. If you have a manual tranny, it's a switch in the transmission, and the wire may have simply fallen off.
As to things breaking, it is a 13 year old car.
