Short life of DI cassette (long)

Background:
I recently replaced the starter motor due to an intermittent no start problem. During the malfunction the starter would first turn, then suddenly bind.
DI cassette:
The very next morning I started the car but it rän only for a short time and then stalled. Attempted to re-start but would only promise, not run. Started to re-check all the connectors that had been open during starter replacement, no faults. Finally got a DI cassette for testing and the car started again. Now the interesting part the cassette was 1 year and 2 months old! With 20 000 kms on it!!!
I am having problems to trust the car at to moment (up to the point that I am considering another make), as it has straned me for 5 times now, 2 times due the DI cassette.
Is there some issue that would forshorten the DI cassette, could a faulty starter motor have an influence? I have checked the motor earthing which checked out okay; 6mV loss from engine to battery terminal when charging.
