Bad Ignition Switch AND NO BATT VOLTAGE ON PIN B?- Long

Okay, so I come to my 87 9KT at 2:30am this morning and there are no lights or illumination at all, on the dash & instrument panel, at any position on the ignition switch. The Central Locking works, Interior Dome and door lights shine brightly. So I pull the ignition switch in the morning and find no continuity between PIN #30 & B at any position. All other contacts seem to be working properly. For fun, I decided to make sure I had Battery Voltage at the Green Wire (PIN B) on the harness and.,...nothing! I am doing something wrong? According to the Haynes book, continuity between PIN 30 & B on the switch is constant. Which makes sense if B the battery voltage. What are the chances of having no voltage and a bad switch? Should I go buy a lottery ticket as well. I tried multiple grounds across wire B. No signs of arching or corrosion on wiring. Battery is fine, so are cables. Like I said, everything that is not dependent on the switch, works. If I'm coming at this the wrong way, please let me know. I'm sure someone has dealt with something similar. I need to make sure my testing procedure is sound as the Saab is not in front of my house. Thanks
Andy
