Torque values for head covers and update

I have the engine manual and could post if you need it. See my other substantial post on fixing V6 valve covers which are well know to leak.

From memory, the torque is very low. The covers are plastic and can warp if you over torque.

I did a belt and braces fit of a nitrile rubber gasket (home made) which I bonded to the head before fitting the valve covers. In a year it has not leaked one drop.

Make sure you have the 8 small "O" rings for each bolt hole as well as the main gaskets.

Torque down slowly. You can feel the rubber gasket compressing. As soon as it gets much stiffer as the cover meets the head STOP. Leave it at this point. You can always torque down a bit further later on.
