I haven't used one yet. I'm still investigating the serial connectors for my Dell AXIM X5. I've heard people having problems with the Dell serial cable. But what I understand is that the Dell cable is for hot syncing and not connecting to a slave device like the ElmScan interface.
By the way, I reviewed the Service Manual again concerning a flashing MIL. It does say if misfiring occures, the check engine light will blink then go steady if the problem does not go away. Could be the DI ready to meet it's maker? Check for oil leaks on DI coils. Quasimotor sites that misfiring leads to an early demise of the DI cassette. He recommeds putting dielectric grease in the DI boots. Cheep insurance
