AN APPROACH TO TROUBLE SHOOTING
I learned most of what I know about cars from my
brother-in-law who has been a master mech for
about 30 years. (He often has helped by phone
since we aren't living close anymore.)
One of the most valuable things he said to me
was "if your car isn't running right, it's
one of 3 things - fuel, electrical or mechanical."
This basic starting point has formed a philosophy
for me. Eliminate what it obviously isn't, and then
look for the simplest explanations first. It's been
quite effective.
WHAT I would do.
First clean and refasten that electrical connector,
put a little dab of dielectric grease on the male
connector. That's probably not the problem, but it's
best to stay on top of these things when you notice them.
Secondly, although your post doesn't jump out and
scream a certain thing to me, it seem that your
problem is fuel delivery. this indicates that
the first suspects should be fuel filter, injectors,
fuel pump amd regulator.
I would start by changing the fuel filter and running
a can of fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank,
I use Seafoam for that. My reasoning: an old fuel
filter can slow down fuel delivery, especially at
slow engine speeds; and, sticky fuel injectors can
cause the problem you've described.
If that doesn't work, I would then go on to a test
of the fuel rail pressure and evaluate the pump and
regulator. But I'd do that after I had run a tank of
gas with the Seafoam through the engine.
BTW - how many miles have you put on the car since
buying it?
