One thing you might consider is the condition of the tires you replaced. If they weren't worn unevenly on one edge or the other your alignment is probably good enough for the time being. If the car doesn't handle well or you notice uneven wear, get it checked. Make sure they give you a printout. You can post it and get a lot of advice on this board.
Really sorry to hear about your Dad.
