9000 wasn't a "real" Saab either in its day!

The Saabistas were most indignant at the key placed on the column and the lack of a fishbowl windshield -- horrors! And it was designed around an Italian chassis, with the engine placed sideways when everybody knows a real Saab has its engine in backwards -- oh, except the real Saabs that have two-stroke engines....
I know what the 9000 means to all of us. But in a funny way the most consistent Saab trait seems to be that each new model is made by some new interloper. I just try to see the Saab influence in the details and tuning of each car, which is what really counts.
That's different than the recent heresy of rebadging GMCs and Subarus as Saabs, of course.
