Thanks to your post about the TB, I took mine apart this morning in hopes of curing the CEL code for the throttle body. I was getting a TCS CNTRL light about every five minutes after repairing the usual TCS gremlins and replumbing the whole vacuum system on my '93 Aero.
What I found with the TB apart was this: The wire which Eric had found pinched and worn through was in good condition with minimal chafing around it. He mentioned cleaning the motor assembly too with alcohol-I used contact cleaner and took a fair amount of dirt out of that area around the brushes. Since I didn't do any work to the wires other than clean the ends/contacts, I think that my success may be due to the motor cleaning. Success is such a permanent word, though... hopefully it will continue. I drove for an hour today at all speeds to see if I'd get the TCS light again, but it didn't light thankfully.
I do have to reset the entire system, but don't want to let the dealer get their hands on it. I'd rather putz around with minimal boost right now than give them 91.75 to spend five minutes pulling codes and resetting the thing.
"Oh no. Recalibrating the TCS system is separate than our one hour diagnostic service." I have come to hate Saab dealers the more I get to know these cars. Anyone know an honest mechanic with a Tech II in Southeastern Massachusetts? Anyway, thank you EricG for your initial writeup. This was the old throttle body ending in "075".
