for my bmw 740 and love them. I don't know if the extremes are available in the size for the 9000. Good handling, braking, cornering. Good wet pavement, decent snow. I don't mean to cast stones here, but c'mon guys if you are driving past the roadholding ability for high quality all season tires like these...you should be on a track, not on the street. If you live in an urban area, your opportunity to outdrive a set of Extreme Contacts is slim.

The problem on snowy roads for me has always been the other drivers behind me who can't stop and in front of me that can't drive through the snow because they bought a Mustang GT. I know my own limits on the road, and while I can't debate that dedicated snows give you greater traction in snow...they also give you a false sense of security to drive faster than other traffic when conditions aren't that great. The other traffic on the road still can't start and stop as well as you. You will feel like your car can take it, until you hit ice and have to stop. I don't care what kind of tire you have, it will not stop well on wet ice.

On my Saab, I have dedicated Blizzak winter tires and Michelin Pilots for summer. I drive the BMW 90% of the time and intend to drive the Saab when the snow gets deeper than 2-3 inches. If the snow didn't get any deeper than that here, I would be perfectly content with all seasons on the Saab and the Bimmer. Unfortunately in Michigan..by the big lake, we get a lot of 6+ inch storms and a few 12+inch storms. In snow that deep, you need snows or a very flexible schedule.

Again, if you are using your saab to race around country corners or twisty roads...don't assume that everyone has to get high performance stuff too. The original post in DC...will be lucky if he sees 60mph.

Cheers
DH1
