It's just a matter of electrical connector. The whole basket pump unit comes with a little stump electrical connector that mates to the wire harness of the car.
As always, they couldn't keep their fingers away and stick with a standard so they had to change the configuration of the wire harness connectors between 91-92 and the again between 92-93.
That little short stump of harness can actually be removed from top of pump basket and moved over to the other pump unit if you are planning to go with a whole assembly.
If you are only planning to replace the inner pump motor I cannot help since I don't know the ins and outs of what pump motor you will find in different years when opening up the basket.
Anders.
