I replaced a worn ball joint on my 88T and needed to reset the toe in. I've tried various ways in the past, but found a pretty simple technique today using a 16"laser level that worked well. I laid two tape measures out on the floor equidistant ahead and behind, and parallel to the line of the front axle. The laser level is the same length as the diameter of the rim and the beam misses the bulge on the tire and will put the dot on the tapes. I adjusted the two tapes on one side of the car until the dot hit the 12" mark on each tape aiming forward and backwards. I then went to the other side, repeated,and recorded the reading. The difference between the two readings multiplied by the ratio of rim diameter over distance between tapes gives the amount of total toe. As long as the rear measurement is equal to or greater than the forward measurement there is toe in. Since I have poly rear control arm bushings I was trying for somewhere between 0 and 1mm. Test drive felt like I was there but I will recheck and tweak. The method seems to repeat well.
