I have gone past the old style shifter coupler. All three of my 9k's have the newer style shift coupler which some claim to never go bad but of course we know better.
But I still have vivid memories changing the four bolt coupler. The new style has only one bolt. There is a completely different technique to change it. With the four bolt setup, I found the inside two is best done by reaching in from the top going past the battery tray. The outside two (driver side) can be reached through the opening between the front wheel and the wheel arch with the wheel turned at an angle. Of course you need long socket extensions.
