My rant about oil (long and tedious)

After seeing much disagreement on oil, I surfed over to bobistheoilguy.com (more info than you will ever want to know about oil)and gleaned the following.
I am going on the assumption that oil standards are driven primarily by 2 standards, emmisions standards and EPA mileage standards, overall engine longevity (which I am primarily concerned about) are not necessarily paramount in these standards.
1. The new oils recommended for cars are very thin, in the 20-30 wt on the high end, because thin oils give better gas mileage because of reduced internal friction. Manufacturers have to meet CAFE standards (average fleet MPG) so they care about MPG before they care about engine longevity. (old racing trick, put really thin oil in your motor and get a couple % increase in horsepower) However, I believe its better for the engine to have a thicker oil for longevity.
2. EPA through the years has been drastically limiting the allowable amounts of some additives in GASOLINE ENGINE OILS, primarily anti-wear metals like moly, because of emmissions standards. This standard does not apply to deisel engine oils. This also reduces engine longevity.
3. Synthetic oil has very stable viscosity for a long time, so it is good for long oil change intervals (OCI). (IMHO the reason it is being pushed is because so many people are leasing cars and of course will not maintain them, so manufacturers need something in the crancase that can take the abuse.)
Therefore, I have come to the following conclusion. I am using Delo 15-40 deisel oil because, according to the oil analysis charts on bobistheoilguy.com, it has many more times the anti-wear additives (I focused on moly) and anti-oxidant/detergent additives than most gasoline oils including synthetics. (notable exception-redline oils). And at about 2 bucks a quart, its cheap.
There, I got that off my chest.
