Use Mann/saab filters, less leaks for some reason
Go ahead with syn/ 15-40
I use syn mostly for the better cold weather cranking, still change every 5-6K miles with the turbos.

I've never had a problem, and I've switched over vehicles with anywhere from 60K-180K
I find most filters leak on Saabs, other than the Mann/Saab (same filter, different color
