IMHO the older the saab the safer oddly. Granted the newer saabs do have all the new equipment...the old stuff can be just fine if used properly (as can any level of safety equipment). 9k's weigh close to 3200 pounds i bleieve? they are one of the heavier cars on the road...and they are damn solid too...i was rear ended while slowing quickly from about 60mph... then that car was hit and then another hit...so i took alot of force. Barely even felt it. Quarter panel folded and when we lifted the trunk floor, the crumple zones worked perfectly and absorbed all of the hit it was really neat lol. All in all i think saab safety was/is way ahead of lots of other companies and i dont think there is really any concern to go into retrofitting with all new features...but like i said i just feel that way as my family has only owned older non-gm saabs and ive seen them save lives...
this should make for an interesting discussion tho...
