The coolant temp sensor (on my Aero ('93)) is on the back of the intake manifold. You do not need to remove the intake or drain the coolant! Just have a rag or paper towels positioned under the sensor, you'll lose about 1/2 cup of coolant. With a short extension and the right size socket (not sure of the size, you'll be able to remove and replace it within 5 minutes.
The coolant temp SENDER lives on the transmission side of the engine block, somewhat near the thermostat. It's very easy to replace. Again, you'll lose fluid while you replace it, so have a rag handy, and don't work with hot coolant ;-)
