Bill, it's good to hear that we are not alone with this problem. The 95 and up unit is still separate from the ECU. Near as I can tell from the Saab Shop manuals, it mounts behind the battery and has a cable linkage directly to the throttle body. There is no vacuum pump, vacuum diaphram under the dash, vacuum valve, or chain linking it to the throttle cable under the dash. Our 97 has it, so I have a model. Electrically, the conversion looks straightforward. Mechanically, the linkage at the throttle body looks different.
