As long as the compressor has a storage tank and can charge up to 100psi or more, it should work-
Usually you only need to use it for a short burst, and a lower powered compressor would do so long as it has a tank for reserve.
If it doesn't impact off right away, you'd have to wait until the air tank charges back up again, which could get frustrating. Larger tanks aren't really the answer in those cases, because even though it has a bigger reserve, it'd take longer to charge up again.
I tend to like compressors with smaller tanks but more power, especially if you like to drain the tank after use to get the moisture out, as recommended.
I put an automatic drain valve on my compressor that bleeds out the moisture every time it cycles, which is much handier than having to do it manually.
