Is belly lift ok on 9000?

I just finished an enjoyable 3 day, 2100 drive from home in southern Illinois to the central coast of California. I've been making this drive about twice/year for the past 5 years, and love the 9000 on long trips.
My question, however, is about the belly lift I've seen some tire shops using. Before leaving on this trip, I wanted to rotate my tires. Usually I do it outside on the dirveway, but the weather on day I chose was cold and snowy, so I decided to have someone else do it. Took the car to a local tire shop and the only lift available was one of these belly lifts. I wasn't sure if it would damage my car, so I passed and ended up doing the tire rotation in the driveway after all. Wasn't a pleasant job, but I did get it done.
Has anyone used one of these lifts, or have any idea if they might damage my car?
