Now that you mention it, the lift at the dealer (pic below) was at four points, whereas I seem to remember that the lift at Discount Tire had two long metal pads, one on each side.
It looks like the dealer lifted it at the jack points and may have bent the tabs. (Don't know, haven't tried using the tire jacks since 1996).
So, which is worse, the the four-point lift which may bend the tabs, or the two-pad lift whose consequences are unknown and may depend on what points contact the pad. For all we know, the floor is strong enough and the two-pad method may be just fine. Would the tire shops, etc. be using this device if it wasn't OK? Wouldn't they or the lift manufacturers have been sued by now?
