Rebuilding a turbo is not too bad. I have not yet rebuilt one by replacing every single parts which wears. Although I ordered a rebuilding kit for a t-25 about a month ago. I will attempt one when the weather is more suitable. The kit was ordered after I took one apart and know it is feasible for an adventurous DIYer to try. I have got a couple of t-25's with wobbling shafts in my garage waiting to be fixed.

You need to first soak all bolted joints with wd-40 for a day or two. A pair of big snap ring pliers come very handy (Harbor Freight). Actually they are indispensible. Mark the orientations of the intake volute and the exhaust casting relative to the shaft assembly before you proceed so you know how to line them up when you are ready to reinstall.

To loosen the shaft, I clamped the exhaust side (there is a triabgular protrusion) on a vise and use a 9 mm wrench to loosen the shaft. The 9 mm nut is reverse thread. I destroyed the first one I attempted not knowing this, a very expensive lessen.

After the nut is loosened I think the parts inside should be straight forward. Although like I said before that's one of my next projects.

What I did about a month ago was just switching the shaft from a t-25 on a 9-3 (I think) to fit my 94cde. The shaft assembly is good, very tight, speins freely with no play. I separated the t-25 into three pieces. Used the center piece (the shaft assembly) of the good turbo and mated it with the intake volute and exhaust casting for the oil leaking t-25 on my 94cde.
