93 Auto - Passenger Output shaft bearing question

Question...
What led to the diagnosis of a worn inner tripod bearing on the passenger side of my 93 CSE auto was that I heard an irregularity in the sound coming from the gearbox where the output shaft comes out.
The Saab mech who was looking at my car with me diagnosed the play in the passenger axle indicating a worn tripod (and possibly companion flange).
I woke up this morning wondering if the play in the tripod that apparently causes vibration, and perhaps my noise, is being transferred to the gearbox where i heard it first (due to load difference between driver and passenger side), OR...
And this is the big OR...
Is there possibly something wrong with my output shaft bearing on the passenger side, or even driver's side, or something else in the gearbox making noise/vibration? And could that be fixed, I see a number of allen key screws holding a cover over the passenger output shaft?
Otherwise, auto trans shifts perfectly, it's a pleasure to drive, and very smooth on highway...
Only complaint is that mystery noise I've been tracing down related to RPMs heard at idle and very slow driving speed.
Possibly I hear it at high speeds as well, because i think what i previously though was road noise, might include the same vibration/noise that I hear at idle.
