A healthy Warning,
The idea of adding Traction Control to the torque crazy 2.3t's was a positive, however GM's engineers build one of THE most problematic Traction Control systems I have ever seen. In the 9000BB's search engine type in the phrase "TCS CTRL." If any of the 4 independant ECUs, safety valves, abs sensors, potentiometers, throttle body, and/or vac-lines cause fault codes, be prepared to put yourself into major debt. When fault codes are sent out, the car is sent into LHM; Limp Home Mode, turning the beastly 2.3L into a 1967 vw beetle. A brand new ETS ECU is $1200!!!! And junk-yarding these parts will not guarentee you anything. I currently have a '92 9000 turbo and have replaced every ECU, the pedal potentiometer, both safety valves, check valve and all vac-lines before I found myself Limp-Mode free.
I don't mean to scare you away from owning one of these classic 9000's, but be very aware of the risk your about to undertake. Even with all the problems I have had, I love my 9KT and would not sell it for anything. Make sure you have it thoroughly checked by an experienced Saab tech. You'll find many of the TCS CTRL problems poppping up at WOT, so run it hard & hot and put it through the ropes. Happy Shopping!
