actually.... the automatic and stick versions of the TCS work differently. The Stick version applies brakes on the wheels that are spinning. The automatic version chops the throttle.
Also, on the automatic version, if you "two foot drive" the car you can get the TCS to disable. That is, applying a *small* amount of left foot brake while applying right foot gas, will disable the TCS.
I'd say either way you are ahead with TCS, as long as you don't desire to drive with a heavy foot. I bet you've seen the ads with cars trying to drive off the frozen lake? Not Saabs, but they showed trying to drive away with TCS disabled, vs enabled.
