Tried what you suggested. Took the thin green wire, disconnected from alternator, grounded via speaker wire to the engine ground point at the upper motor mount dogbone bracket. Still no light.
So:
1. The connector on the end of the green wire LOOKED okay, but in one of your posts out there, I believe you'd said visual inspection of the connector might not be a good way to assess. Do these connectors go bad?
2. Would speaker wire be adequate for the creating a good connection with the green wire for purposes of grounding?
3. Is the grounding point at the dogbone bracket a good spot to use?
4. If yes to the two above questions, what do you suggest I try next?
5. If I need to replace the warning light bulb, what are the exact specs? I think you'd said 1.2 volts, but just to be sure, perhaps you'd be willing to restate the specs here? (I did replace all the bulbs in the instrument cluster about three years ago; perhaps I put in the wrong bulb back then -- that would explain not seeing the battery warning light.)
6. I know I'd seen a post of yours out there (can't find it right now) suggesting splicing in a new section of wire to the original green wire.
7. Is replacing the light bulb or doing the wire splice the next immediate step to take, or is there something else I should try?
Car continues to make perfect voltage numbers today.
Thanks again! You're clearly the expert on this BB regarding this issue.
