Seriously, probably the worst that could happen is that the car would run, but not detect knock, an dyou get a bad tank of gas, and your engine, to quote your countryman, David Hobbs, would go 'KABLAMMO'!
Here's what I THINK WOULD happen: as long as both cars are non- TCS, the car would be fine, but you may get a Check Engine light if you run an OBD 2 ECU in an OBD 1 car. There wouldn't be anything wrong, just the ECU would be looking for a second O2 sensor that isn't there.
One thing to watch, since you're in UK: the car is probably considered a 1995, because it was registered in 1995; it could actually be a 'left over' 1994 or an early 1996; check the manufacturer plate on the driver's door jamb to get the production date - that will tell you what year each car really is.
I think you would be ok with the alarm issues, because the alarm uses a separate ECU, and the last change for that was for model year 1995, so a 1996 would be the same.
