OK, first the correction.
Apperently BOTH cars are 1996 model year (although registered in 1995, hence my confusion, but the VIN code decoder says both are '96.
I did the swap just now (swapped the ECUs and transplanted the BPC from my FPT to the LPT.
With the FPT ECU now in the LPT car, it just won't start. It is as if the immobiliser is activated, ie it fires the first time, but won't catch, then it'll just crank and crank.
Obviously, if the fuel pump wasn't working for whatever reason with the FPT ECU installed, this would produce the same effect.
Replacing the LPT ECU back in it starts right up. Swap it back, same again.
It's about to rain again (surprise!)so I've left the LPT ECU in the car, but now have the BPC and vacuum hoses configured as FPT.
The BPC is buzzing when connected (good sign) but car feels exactly the same, which makes sense.
Anyone any ideas?
Just for reference, the part numbers for the ECUs: the FPT ended in 80 and the LPT ended in 72, with the other numbers of the part number being the same.
Cheers Guys
Andy (West London)
