Lori, there are four (or more) rubber hangers that suspend the entire exhaust system. You should be able to see most of them without too much trouble. Go to http://www.eeuroparts.com and drill into the site for saab/year/engine and then scroll down to exhaust. the hangers are nujmber 8 on the drawing. That's what you want to look for. The cost is only a couple of bucks. I'd say take it to midas for the free inspection and ask to be able to look under the car while it's up in the air. see if the hangers are there and in good condition. sometimes the lower loop tears but you have to get close to see that.

Is your muffler/exhaust system stock or a performace unit for the car, *or* a compatible from a muffler shop? Reason I'm asking is that we had a muffler shop replace the unit on the wife's car about 8 years ago. They welded, cut, and bent things around. BIG freakin mistake. So I replaced the entire unit as far back as the CAT with stock when the muffler died again. Everything is happy Saab now, even with 360K miles...

Also, once you've bent it, it will be more prone to get snagged again until you get everything lined up properly. Slow down on those deep dips!
