Again, to all of you...
Thanks for the help so far. I got the wheel bearing/hub assembly replaced yesterday, put in some fresh gas, and the car seems fine. I also replaced the DI cassette, but I'm guessing the starting/running problem was just old fuel, and not enough of it. So now I've got the oh-so-important spare DI unit.
A few thoughts about the car having driven it home yesterday... damn, it really feels solid and drives well. My only complaints are the huge A-pillars that block front visability a bit, and ditto with the rear buttresses. But I know those speak fondly of safety...
The heat/climate control system seems to have a mind of its own. I push buttons, and it decides what's best for me. I'll admit though that it does a pretty good job of that. The SRS light is permanantly on, and it seems to also think the drivers door is always open. But I can live with that.
There are some little quirks... I can't pull the ashtray out. The power mirror switch is broken off, and what's left doesn't seem to do anything. I'll look into that when I pull the door panel to fix whatever isn't allowing the drivers door to be opened from outside.Overall though, it seems solid... so now I can feel justified in spending a few hundred dollars more on a pair of tires and a new windshield... both of which it really needs to be roadworthy. It also needs a front turn signal lense. So far, I've got almost exactly $350 into the thing including the initial tow home, and license plates, so I figure I'm doing OK.
It claims that its low on brake fluid... is DOT3 OK? Or should I got with DOT 4 or 5?
Anyhow... thanks again. I can't say I'm a huge Saab fan yet, but I'm sure feeling better about the car now having put more than 50 miles on it...
