All three of my 9Ks were 5spd. The first, a '87 non turbo got 2-4mpg better around town for me. Next is a '95CSE, with turbo. After that is wife's '95Aero. I think the Aero has about 2mpg less inherent 'round town mpg. She gets about 4-6mpg less than me on ave in the same car. Driving style matters. She likes to drive at high revs. And drives the hot car like a hot woman! At least she gets some joy....
On the hwy, they all basically got the same, 30-36mpg, depending on speed, temp, headwind/tailwind, and hwy surface. Smooth blacktop seems to give an xtra mpg or two. Speeds basically 75-80. That is with the '87 having600-800 higher rpm at speed.
By the way, picked up two quick tickets with the turbo. I had forgotten how fun and fast the turbo can bring you up to speed....
