Guys, yup, it's King Thicky of the Thick People here..
Here's a good lesson for anyone(like me in this case) who automatically dismisses a symptom in a new part, just cos it's "new"!
The part worn tyres I bought, one of the front ones had a slow puncture. I like to run firm tyres - 37 PSI all round - and the dodgy one was down to 23PSI. I imagine if I had both fronts at 23 it wouldn't have been so bad, but running on the same axle with the other at 37PSI, made it wobble all over the place.
Sorry for wasting your time. However, the suggestion that a tyre was out of round came useful when driving my Wife's Previa, which I had fitted part worn tyres to as well. On a long motorway trip, a slight wobble at high speed got progressively worse until it was even wobbling at 30-40. I pulled into a tyre place and they showed me that the tyre was bulging noticeably when jacked up at given a spin. Although looked fine when on the road.
VERY dangerous and could have blown any minute!
Part worns are a gamble and I won't be using them again!
