LPT to FPT failed - so I'm thinking of this?

Hi Guys.
(FPT is 1995 2.3 FPT, LPT is 1996(I thought 1995)2.3 LPT)
I swapped over the ECU and BPC from my (dead)FPT to my new LPT to perform the conversion. The cars must have been different model years as the FPT ECU wouldn't start in the LPT. I've swopped the ECU back, so I'm now running the stock LPT ECU but with the BPC and hose arrangement from the FPT. To check the car was capable of good boost (ie more than base boost)I temporarily disconnected the Wastegate hose ("W") from the BPC and it does boost well ( I hit fuel cutoff accidently, so have reconnected W hose).
Now to the question: I believe the BPC won't communicate with the LPT ECU, so if I fit a Manual boost control (MBC)in line with the W hose, which I assume will give me more boost, would the fuel run lean because of the LPT ECU?
I'm keen to get something like the FPT performance back, but don't want to blow the engine running lean mixture!
..and no, I can't afford a proper FPT ECU or a sexy chipped ECU! :-)
