Since I was replacing the rear brakes/rotors at the same time, I started by removing the caliper, rotor, bearing/hub, and then the brake cover. This gave me clear access to the shock nut/bolt. Starting on the left rear, I was able to get the shock bolt out. I was helped by the use of my four pound sledge and a brass rod. You have to work the bolt against the bushing to break it free. On the right side I just couldn't break the bolt free from the sway bar bushing. So I drove the bolt out of the shock mounting using the sledge and removed the entire sway bar with the bolt and all. The key is if you can get the bolt out on one side, the other can come with the sway bar removal.
