oni, That's a 2-4 band. It is only applied when the car is in 2nd or 4th gear and has no effect on 1st. Delayed first gear engagement is caused by any one of a number of other problems. Always look first at your fluid (ATF dexron III) level. Those 1st engagement problems are confined to either valve body problems or stack problems. The "stack" is the line up of rotating, torque transmitting components, clutches, gears, shafts etc. You can't fix stack problems without pulling the transmission out. Sometimes a valve body problem (sticky valve) can be cured by changing the fluid and filter and some people will include an additive but I can't recommend one (I just have never used one). Cheers.
