relay socket possibility

you just reminded me of something. back in the early vw rabbit days, they had a problem melting the sockets for the fuel pump and there was a kit to plug into the socket in the fuse panel and have a new relay socket on top of it.

does that make sense?

iirc, later rabbits (golf jetta) came from the factory with a socket like that. if it's as nice outside by you as it is by me, check a junkyard or if you can't, ask a vw dealer or good foreign parts place.

it would make sense they should be fairly easy to come by, i doubt ours are the only cars to have this happen.

if you had one and wanted to be super uber clever, you could cut a closely-fitting hole with a dremel and epoxy the new socket in.
